Rather than highlight a single model for the weekly Lakeshore RV product feature, I will be talking about three different Elk Ridge 5th Wheels. For 2011, Heartland is offering eight different floor plans – all unique in their own way and certainly worth a look. But before I delve into the details, for those of you out there who aren’t familiar with Elk Ridge, it’s probably time you were properly introduced.
The full-profile Elk Ridge Fifth Wheel is the result of Heartland listening to their customers and delivering a high quality product to meet their needs. These RVs are priced affordably but are still constructed using all the chassis features, standard equipment, sought-after options, superior craftsmanship and attention to detail that Heartland is known for. The result is a 5th wheel that delivers peace of mind performance and features everything you could need for easy living: practical, sophisticated, stylish, charming and luxurious.
I recently had an opportunity to inspect a few Elk Ridge RVs in Lakeshore RV’s inventory and I was pleasantly surprised with how Heartland is setting these RVs apart from the competition. The Elk Ridge 29BHCK Fifth Wheel caught my attention and I think camping families are really going to enjoy this model. This floor plan features a bunk-house and outdoor camp kitchen – all the rage in the travel trailer segment right now, but probably the first time I have seen this feature on a 5th wheel. I really like the camp kitchen because it encourages you to spend more time outside (Who REALLY wants to be indoors on vacation anyway?) and it is sure to improve family camping time as well as your campsite’s ambiance. While small, the rear bunkhouse is a neat feature that I’m sure kids will love – if I would have grown up doing the RV thing, I would have been geeked to have my own bunk room.
The Elk Ridge 35DSRL 5th Wheel is also a head turner and another perfect RV for the family. This model has a rear den with a sofa, small entertainment center and closet storage – a great hangout for the kids. The kicker is the stair access to a really cool loft above the den that can be used as a sleeping area for the kids or additional storage space if needed. The loft and den are available with different furniture options, so be sure to call Gary England at Lakeshore RV for more information.
Also worth mentioning are the unique rear kitchen 29RKSA Elk Ridge Fifth Wheels. The floor plan benefits because the roomy kitchen effectively utilizes all corner space and is tucked back in the rear, out of the way. The central living area in this model features a free-standing dinette and air mattress hide-a-bed sofa in the road slide as well as a unique L-shaped couch. I really like the L-shaped couch and it blends nicely together with the rest of the living/kitchen space making a cozy and homely floor plan. Worried about how the trailer rides with the kitchen in the rear? Well, the Elk Ridge is a smooth riding 5th wheel thanks to the dual 6,000lb axles, 16″ tires, 10″ steel I-beam frame and Trail-Air Equa-Flex suspension system.
Space won’t allow me to get into the other Elk Ridge floor plans Heartland offers, but they are certainly worth looking into as they each have unique features that I’m sure you will enjoy.
